Valerie LaLonde

Valerie, a registered counsellor, is passionate about empowering clients to set and achieve their goals despite their past or current circumstances. Using an integrative approach of Cognitive Behaviour and Reality Therapy, she helps clients process emotions and past traumas to move their lives forward.

Valerie is a recent Kelowna College of Professional Counselling graduate with a designation as a registered professional counsellor MPCC associated with the Canadian Professional Counsellors Association. She has over 20 years of experience working with people in a leadership role, building community in every department and employment opportunity she has worked in. Passionate about empowering clients to establish future goals, whether big or small and helping them believe they hold the answer to the life they want, despite their past or current circumstances. Through a therapeutic alliance, she enjoys coming alongside clients, helping them work through past traumas, grief, and hardships, and teaching healthy ways to process loss and heal to move their lives forward.

Valerie and her family have lived in the Okanagan for several decades. She has worked with youth and families in many capacities and has been very involved with the community, youth groups, and youth centers. Another of her passions has been doing missions abroad, bringing shoes for kids to walk to school.

Widowed in 2019, losing her husband to cancer opened the thought to how she might be able to help others going through pain and loss. She is a mother to five children who are all happy, healthy, and thriving.

Valerie’s counselling approach uniquely combines Cognitive Behaviour Therapy and Reality Therapy. She believes in the power of embracing all aspects of life, both positive and negative, as they can serve as catalysts for personal growth and development. She aims to equip her clients with the tools to navigate past struggles while emphasizing that the future is in their hands. You may not be able to control what happens to you; you can learn ways to control how you respond.
